Getting the Perfect Fit - How our Fitting Process Works
You can spot a perfectly fitting corset by the beautifully parallel back
lacing gap, and the way it sits against the skin on the top and bottom
edge, at the front the bust has the perfect level of support at the right
height giving a truly delicious decolletage. It is exactly the same size as your bust and hip, at the perfect distance up and down from your waist, whether that's 2 inches or 8. If the corset has in built 'bra cups' like our Aria or Scoop, the cups also have to be at the perfect height and the perfect volume.
You should always be free to decide the waist reduction you want.
If you look at the picture of our bespoke Lux Mars leather corset below, you can see it fits perfectly, just touching
the skin on the top and bottom edge whilst giving a four inch waist reduction,
and this can only be achieved with a bespoke or made to measure corset. It wasn't
just luck that the Mars Leather corset fitted our model so beautifully in this picture, we made it that way.
Our bodies differ by as much as six inches in length between waist and
bust, and a factory manufacturer can't accommodate this kind of range. So, an off-the-peg corset
from a shop usually fits poorly and will feel restrictive,
with aches and pains where the bones cut in to you, and all sorts of strange
wrinkles and bulges where skin spills over the top and bottom edges.
Mass manufactured corsets are made with patterns that are at best a guess at a woman's body proportions. In reality, we are all different, and waist size has no bearing on the bust size, hip size or body length.
We feel so strongly about the terrible fit of mass production corsetry, that we take the time to make a new pattern every time. Consequently a Lux Tenebrae bespoke or made to measure leather corset is wonderfully comfortable
to wear, giving a lovely feeling of support as it hugs your every contour, and each corset is unique. We would expect a bespoke corset to take anywhere between 2 and 20 fittings, depending on complexity.
Both bespoke and made to measure services involve you sending measurements and having an individual pattern made for you.
Both have the same premium workmanship - all of our finished items will take days of intricate, delicate hand work and this is where your investment in us will pay off, as you will have a garment that should, with care, last a lifetime.
Optional visits to the studio are included in the price of all bespoke items, and with a small consultation fee for our made to measure clients. It's not compulsory to visit the studio, we can do it all by mail and internet, but it can be helpful to plan in some visits, as there's no beating a skilled hand and eye during the fitting process. We can also use a Skype video call as a successful alternative to visiting the studio. Simply contact Jules to arrange your Skype consultation.
Bespoke items will involve a series of fittings to get a perfectly tailored garment. We pour our time, effort and passion in to these bespoke pieces and the process can take months until completion.
Made to measure items miss out the fitting process so are therefore quicker from beginning to end. Since we make the item to your specification, we can't guarantee the fit.
Everything in our bespoke range represents an investment in time and money that will give a beautifully finished garment. Our made to measure range offers a slightly quicker, less expensive alternative as sometimes that's all that's needed. Both services have our enthusiasm and passion from beginning to end. Priceless.
Each Lux item is always handmade, allowing us to customise even the smallest
detail and take into account your particular measurements. We are able
to customise every item that we make, and we take the same care and pride
in even the smallest briefest item of lingerie as we do an entire wedding
trousseau. We are proud of our flexibility in method, and will always
work with you to get a perfect fit.
Whether you choose our Bespoke atelier or our Made to Measure service, you can rely on us for perfection.
